I was talking to a broker and this is what he said.

Drop trailer at noon, pick up 6pm and driver straight through 560 miles.

Can this even be done with a Elog system?

I’m guessing no because it leaves me at best 7 hours to drive 560 miles.

Here is my math. Correct me if I’m wrong.

    14 hours start

    20 min pre trip

40 min to get to shipper

    Leaves me with 13.

Now I pc to a local stop or wait outside.

    6 hours have gone,

13-6=7 hours on my day, minus the 40 min on drive leaves around 6.5-7 hours.

Now I gotta do 560 miles at a avg mph of 80 to get there in time at a 5 am delivery.

I know it can be done with paper logs but who the hell would do it?

Can you drop the trailer earlier at the shipper? And plan to leave shipper at 6pm, so drop it there at 7 am, go do 10 hour and return to depart at 6pm.

The way it's planned now is impossible.

    Agreed.

Typical BS mission impossible. Always common back in paper log days. You probably will be tired by the time the night driving begins.

If you get to the drop lot at least 10 hours plus drive to shipper time early and get rid of it, then ELD is fine. Otherwise you will run out of your working and driving day about 320 miles from shipper into the night and then be late.

If the broker gets stubborn and yell and say no to your changes, then tell them to give the load to a team. It's the only way it will work.

I don't know anything about e-log, but can't you drop the trailer then hit sleeper for 8 instead of 6 then pull out. That would give you 9 hours , which is doable, depending where you are at and going.

You can drop it at 10am, and take an 8/2 split.

But the way you laid it out.. nope.

Drop the trailer at 8 am, pick it up at 6 after you sleep in their parking lot for your ten.

Sounds like the broker wants team drivers. They always try to pull this BS.

Or a company with multiple trucks that can drop it Without taking up your hours. Do they know your 1 man operation? But yeah that won’t work.

Curious. What and where are you hauling and going to?
Back in my chicken hauling days that would have been a normal run!
