All jokes aside, I have been on sites with a flatbed or step where the obstacle course would put any grocery warehouse or anything else built for trucks to shame, not to mention the distances through some obstacle courses. lol

What do we always tell the rookies... Practice backking into the harder spots when the lot is empty... What is hard to back into in an empty lot... The spot next to another truck... So they do just as we always tell them... It just so happens that the majority of trucks in a near empty lot for aome reason are nearly always opendecks... Why is it that when everyone else is off working the opendecks guys are sitting in a nearly empty truck stop... And dont give me the we run at night line... I run nights a lot, and all I see in significant numbers are the bullwagons and the LTL guys

I should introduce you to Dumas Texas where there is the one meat plant to the west of the main drag in town. That one has a rail yard around about 20 seperate cars, some of which are covered in flies. I had to back my spread around some of them, cross several tracks to reach a remote dock deep in their building complex to get hides bound for mexico.

I was told two things, Keep my windows and vents shut, they will sign and tape the bills to one of the pallets back there. And was out of there the hard way when loaded.

That one was unloaded at Eagle Pass. The wash out was something to behold. at least no flies that I know of once the lubbock winds had a chance to work on it.

I usually park next to someone who just shut down, with my flatbed, so I only have to worry about one person who might take off my hood instead of two.

I've been to places with a reefer to haul flatbed freight, too.

Last time was Easter Monday at the north edge of Maryland, and it was more memorable for them than it was for me. The pallet was over seven feet wide and probably 14 feet long. Weight was insignificant, but the rate was 2200 for less than 1000 miles, so it paid the company better than usual, 200 mile deadhead from Brooklyn to pick it up, though.

Needless to say, my trailer didn't awaken me on the way back. That time.

I parked away from others in an unmarked and unpaved lot, because the reefer was running, that was unusual, I mostly haul dry box or deadhead back. The tire tracks I lined up with weren't right, so I ended up using 2 spaces until I left to go home at midnight.

Drivers can’t back into or pull thru a spot unless there is another truck for reference. It’s annoying as heck. If you’re in the seat and see this happening, start moving to another spot as they are getting near you. They will get all goofed up. It’s fun.
