No forced dispatch, but if I want the long load I got to do a local in a stack?

you signed up for a truckers job, things change and if you cannot adapt, well, go work in a factory.

Everyone wants the miles. You are bottom of the list.
Only thing to do is time and showing you can do the long hauls when offered.
Just gotta climb the ladder like everyone else in the world.

Short stuff until you put in some time. Thats why some of the newbies are out of the industry in 3 months they don't get the miles to sustain themselves.

Frankly the mileage pay is obsolete and unnecessary for company drivers, if everyone in company work had a salary then it wont matter if you had a 10 mile 100 mile or 10,000 mile.

Its a form of abuse open to dispatchers in case they need to give Mr whine a long rope over a short week.

 

Sometimes they use the short haul to get an empty to drop off or to load for your long haul.

 

"No forced dispatch",,,what a crock. The outfit I was leased to had that baloney, oh sure, it was a no force dispatch alright, it's just, if you refused something, they'd say, well, we got nothing else for you.

 

Usually the shorter the load the more it pays. Since the driver is paid mileage he gets the shaft and the company profits.

OTR to a mega company doesn’t mean longer mileage load, but longer time from home.

They have trouble getting those local crap loads done, and if they offer you a stack with a sweet long load you really should be grateful for both the miles and the consideration.
The local pays higher per mile plus short haul pay, by the way.

If you cry and whine about it, you may just be offered only short runs. Would you prefer that?


Freight is slow right now. After 3 months in, you should be happy you are getting some of those long runs.
Because really, you have everything to prove to Swift and they have nothing to prove to you.
Be 100% on time and totally safe for a year or two, and then the tables start turning around in your favor.

 

if any of you take the time to read his other postings, he's having other issues, and he wants more miles?

one has to be as up to speed as possible, to move onto the next phase.
