Me personally I slow down 5-7 mph. More if circumstances call for it but thats my average. I ask because it seems like the majority of truckers don't slow down at all. I've seen trucks doing 68 in the rain, weaving in and out of traffic.

Last night was crazy, I'm on i40 west in Arkansas Oklahoma border area, and the left lane is closed. As I'm driving thru construction I look in my mirror and see another trucker driving on the shoulder trying to pass me and a 4 wheeler. Idk what changed these pass few years but I'm starting to see more and more of this kinda stuff.

With the e-logs, drivers have to make time when they can, me personally I'm never in a hurry, I just like to drive fast, makes me feel like a race car driver.

Depends on the circumstances... Last week i drove from brazil indiana to jjs truck stop just outside of little rock.. About 550 miles or so.. Took about 10 hrs so i averaged 55 mph or so... Nothing but really heavy rain the whole way but i adjusted my speed to conditions sometimes i could go faster when the rain would slow and sometimes i would have to back it down to under 50mph if my wipers was having a hard time keeping up .. I got my doors blown off all day by them super truckers , some guys dont care, the only time they will slow down is when they are in the ditch.. Dont be that guy we have, enough of them out here ... Not to mention there was a time in that trip about 100 miles north of little rock it was raining real real good, i had it backed down to about 48 or 50 mph and i saw a car up in the right lane and it looked like it had reverse lights on, i couldnt see very well but i thought it was odd so i started slowing down until i could comprehend what i was seeing... To my surprise once i got closer , thats exactly what i saw ! The car must have hydroplaned because he was sitting diagonal in the right lane at a complete stop and was backing up in the travel lane... If i was hauling ### and not paying attention i wouldve hit that moron at 50 mph on the drivers side door in a huge rainstorm with a suicide coil on my deck... But because i was at the right speed and watching whats going on i was able to move into the other lane and lay on my air horn to let the guy know how stupid he is... I got on the cb " southbound left lane left lane get ur ### in the left lane !! Car completely stopped in right lane... Nobody responded and about 2 minutes later i get my doors blown off by a pack of about 4 trucks that was hauling ### about 70mph , ..then the morons grt on the radio "how come nobody said #### about the car in the right lane " lol turn ur radio on u idiot...some guys never learn...anyways .Just understand that consistency is key.. Its about how many miles u drive in one hour not how many miles u drive in 10 minutes, some guys dont understand that concept.... Its the same with 4 wheelers.. How many times have u had ur doors blown off by a 4 wheeler going 80mph or more, and they pass u about 8 times in 4 hours, they dont understand the concept of consistent speed over a period of time, all they know is fast fast fast fast, but they stop every 30 miles to f around... Steady pace wins the race especially in bad weather... If u can only average 40 mph in bad weather ,, over a 10 hour period u can still cover 400 miles....dont worry about how fast everybody around u is going , go a pace u feel comfortable with and never lose focus in bad weather

Depends on many factors. As always visibility and space are the biggest factors.

Fresh asphalt as daylight disappears with spray and headlight glare creates one of my least favorite driving conditions.

Agreed. It depends for me on how heavy the rain is. If its a light mist I might drop a mile or two per hour. Tho if it is coming down in buckets and visibility is poor I will slow down to maybe 45 and turn on the flashers.

Lots of factors, under the right conditions things can get pretty slippery. Light load or bobtail...

    6wheeler Thanks this.
