thomasweil, cke, W900AOwner and 4 others Thank this.

Not as bad as the guy I saw with 4 chains on a 4100 P&H bucket
-
I've always been a believer of over securing a load because you'll never get written up for too many tiedowns
As for chains chafing, what's to prevent chafing on the link of your chain where you hook your binder?cke, W900AOwner, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this. -
12 - 1/2" on them for me.
A bare 4100 shell is 95-99k.
I've posted these before. No dang way I wouldn't wanna be in front of one of these if it came loose.Last edited: May 11, 2019

I'm 100% on board with your perspective, and hold that same one myself. I've never heard of getting a violation for over-securing anything, but sure have heard of the opposite.
LEO's are like women; no two look at things the same, lol. -
Across the southern tier of NY state (rt.17/I-86) there's a DOT check it seems every 30 miles. I've had one cop say one thing and the next stop say something totally different, so I just try and meet in the middle.
Used to be able to throw your chains and binders in the well and let them ride in NY. That changed, and they were fining us for lack of securement on the chains and binders. They were accepting bungee cords as a form of securement for a while, now that's no longer any good and the latest folly is the need to have a minimum of a 1" ratchet strap WITH A WLL TAG of 1000 lbs. on them.
I'm telling ya, facts are stranger than fiction sometimes. -
You're taking what I said totally out of context now. I'm not chastising anyone; everyone's free to do as they please (so far,) and I do what I do as a reassurement to myself and the LEO to show that I am at least trying and I somewhat care as to how I do things. Might have something to do with age, experience, past experiences, etc...don't really know.
I don't go around trying to change anybody's views or opinions; it ain't worth the air it holds. Just contributing to the cause here, that's all. Like it or love it, there's a different opinion and attitude on these sites and forums on EVERYTHING, especially when it's involved with trucking. Keep doing what you're doing, that's all that counts.booley Thanks this.
