Navigation app or GPS device? Which do you recommend?

    Apps are cheaper but in many places you can get a ticket just for holding your phone in your hand. The law doesn't care if you're texting your girlfriend or using an app for navigation. That's a huge advantage for a standalone GPS.

    What's the difference between a phone and a standalone gps.

    You gotta park either way before touching or looking at either item. BUT, you CAN plan with the apps before leaving.

    Roger that. I have two phones in my truck. Also have two flat-mount magnet mounts so that my phones are flush with my dash. If anyone saw me touching my phone it would look to the like I am touching something on my dash. Cracks me up every time I see a cop roll by holding a phone. Hypocrites.
