I've been home 3 years so I have no idea what if any improvements have been made lately..

All I know is my S6 worked way better then my note2. That was the latest phone when I came home.

I haven't run west in the past 3 or 4 years. But i only remember having dropped calls and data sometimes being iffy.
I-70 past Denver into Utah was an area I remember having no internet, phone service cutting in and out. I remember that because I had to stop and pull over when the wife called)

That particular stretch of Utah 70 has more eagles than people. No real civilization until you reach the Pilot in Green River.

Verizon or At&t for OTR drivers. The other companies aren’t even a match. Verizon has the best coverage and reliability, but At&t isn’t far behind. Both companies have very similar plans. Whenever one makes a major change, the other follows. They both went unlimited in 2017. I’ve done T-Mobile, Cricket Wireless, At&t, and Verizon.

I have Cricket wireless, which is AT&T's prepaid cell service. Works great in most places. North Nevada and Wyoming on 80 are not great. Otherwise no issues. I pay $97 per month for 3 phones all with unlimited talk, text, and data.

Where are you getting this information from? Verizon has ranked #1 in largest nationwide coverage and reliability. I checked a few sites, and it hasn’t changed. Note that I am talking about “coverage and reliability overall.” Data download/upload speed is different, and there will always be zones where At&t or other companies have a better coverage.

As an OTR driver, I’ve had At&t from 2013-2015, and then I had Verizon from 2016 to present.

I get this information from my travels. Just like you.

There's a reason I switched from cdma to gsm. Or whatever it's called these days.
