“We’re in the freight business, not the waiting business. Yours ain’t the only the freight on the truck. You’ll take it now, or the next time it comes out they’ll be redelivery charges tacked on.”

That’s how management with a spine might handle that.

I get VERY cynical whenever I hear the words “let me make a call real quick....”. Those are usually followed by “can you take it to this place 20 miles away?”

“Nope. Not my territory. Now it has to be reconsigned. Somebody should’ve had their #### together fron the beginning”.

I ran with a tank company that expected you to do that so you could 50-gallon your way across the country, even though they only really had a handful of customers who wanted to load it with an eyedropper rather than just counting on 48K.

Guess who made sure to go into every customer full of fuel? ;)

This is quite infuriating. My response was always "clean your #### baghouse!"

Hauling water out of Maine I got the same message. I was new, so I said ok.
It went really well until I ran out of fuel.

Years ago, we baled hay in Kansas and sold it, most of it in Texas to the dairies. It was 512 mile haul. I pulled up on the dairy scales once and the owner walked all the way around pulling a stem out of each bottom bale and tasting it. Finally he ask how much it was (he knew as well as I did). I told him, I am just a driver, he had made the deal with the boss.
So he said he thought it was 125 a ton, I said no it is 140 and you know it is. lol
He then said he wasn't paying that but would go 125, so I again told him I was just a driver and couldn't ok that. So then he tells me to park the truck and we would call the boss, I just left and sold it at another customer. I got back to Ks the next morning, the boss wanted to know what I had done, so I told him.
I had to hurry and get him another load down there, but all he said was which barn to head to when I got back. lol
