Fair rate idea?

I'm a Sawmill man by trade, venturing into logging and parallel business models.
I got my class a permit last October, with the intent of driving, but that hasn't panned out as expected .
We've had a few things fall into our laps since, and we explore each to determine viability.
We're on the brink of something huge, and heavy transport is part of the deal.
Folks here are a wealth of knowledge, and that's a huge benefit.
It helps me understand both sides of the equation... I need stuff moved, and I can't do it myself. I need a driver with the means and ability to do it safely, smartly, and at a fair dollar that works for us both.
I don't want to bend any driver over a barrel, but I also don't want to spend more than necessary.
Understanding both sides helps me make an informed decision that's beneficial for us both
It's unlikely I'll ever be a professional driver, but it's sure that I'll need professional drivers with my ventures.
The forest is my calling.
The knowledge I gain here helps me better honor all parts of the equation, determine what's reasonable and what isn't, the behind the scenes requirements that I may not be aware of, and the impacts it carries beyond the surface of what's visible.

Good luck. Logging and sawmilling is a tough job, but someone’s got to do it.

I hope this will not end up being logging to load trucks with pulp wood for a paper mill.
In Michigan with 80,000 lbs of wood it usually averages to $1000 per load to the truck. Which just seems very cheap when drivers only manage 5 loads a week most times.

That's pretty good pay pulling 5k a week.
Locally, we pay around 3.50 a loaded mile, $200 minimum trip.
A motivated driver can pull 5 loads a day if they have a spare trailer.
We load while they're rolling, drop and hook, no waiting.

Funny thing is loggers gross no more money than an OTR truck, and yet have way more parts failures to repair, and larger repair bills.
