Bendix AD-9 dump valve seems to get stuck on.

Just don't wait to long.
That same oil will destroy airvalves.

Ending my drive one night my air pressure gauge started dropping while driving so I kept the rpms up. But when I got parked at the Petro in Oak Grove, MO I could not build air pressure. That shop charged me $1500 for new Compressor, and AD9 dryer.

 

Gunk up a new air dryer and catch it before it gets to the tanks or fill the tanks then to the valves.

 

Its your truck so do what you want. But id like you to think about one thing, if the cost of a sacrificial new dryer is prohibitive how will you write the check for replacing every air valve on the truck and having the tanks hot acid dipped or replaced if the shop doesn't have an acid tank?

Its one thing to bypass a filter to get you off the side of the road but to run it like that for even a week can be a very very expensive mistake.

 

Are the air tanks full of oil, just because the dryer had oil in it does not mean it is pumping oil badly, it could also mean that it has never been serviced, they all gather oil until they can't anymore.
If oil does not come out of the tanks when you drain them, you are safe for the time being, in fact there was a time a lot (maybe all) never had an air dryer on them to start with,

 

If there is no oil in your tanks, then it will not be getting any oil in the valves, and there is no need to replace the compressor. I have bypassed the drier many times over the years to get home, usually when it is below zero, and have put off putting a kit in it for some time several times for quite a bit, never a problem.
I have also driven several trucks that didn't have one, also as long as a guy drains the tanks every so often depending on climate, no problems ever.

 

I agree with this also. I rebuilt my 03 cat at almost 1 mill and ask the mechanic at the Cat shop if I should put a compressor on it while we were at it. He ask if it was passing oil (original compressor) I said no and he said he has seen just as many new rebuilt compressors come apart as million mile ones. So we left on and put almost 1.4 before selling the truck.
