Rooster, from your experience how long would it take to work up to what you're doing. Just a best guess.

I have 11-12yrs experience on flatbed, and helped write a new driver training course for load securment, hauling steel and some OD and equipment. Caveat is it's a bit older. I've been running fuel tanker and LTL for the last few years.

I'm interested in the 1yr lease for flat/specialized.

So much of that is going to depend on freight, your willingness to pull to crappy places for not always top dollar.

I have seen a guy go from class 4 to blades in 2 years. He didn't have many bills and no family at home. He chased OD cause he could afford it.

It took me 3 years. I go home a lot. If the load didn't pay better, or significantly better than a legal load, I took the legal load.

As an average I would say 2.5 to 4 years.

That's not terrible. If I want something I'm not afraid to work for it.

I've been a company driver for 25yrs. Do they have any kind of system for rookie lease operators?
