I’ve seen some Mr Haney posts. I just did a platinum with warranty in March and don’t want to lose warranty coverage so I’m a little hesitant. at this point I’m making the same or a bit more than I was as a company driver. My numbers are skewed by the fact that I’ve owned the truck for almost a full year and dumped 50k into it besides purchase price. Hindsight is 20/20. I suspect I’m in a good position where I’m at but always looking for feedback and input from more experienced owner ops.

How much are you paying for health insurance? What are you expected to make (take home this year)
I would get out of northeast run the midwest and south as much as possible. Less traffic and flat land.

I paid $42.5K for Casper two years ago with a TK APU, 220K miles ago. Got about $20K in him in maintenance and repairs.

I’m on my wife’s health plan cause she works full time. My take home this year should be about 50-60. But I paid 32k for an overhaul this year on top of normal maint costs. Do those markets pay as good as northeast?

What year is Casper? Def or dpf only? I know it is a Cummins if I remember right.

I got a friend looking at those used cascadias, he asked for my advice. I said man I don't know anything about those emissions trucks, I like my pre-egr dinosaur....

2012. DEF truck. He looking at a Cummins? 2015 and later have the updated pistons that mitigate the carbon packing issue. Don't even think about a DEF truck that doesn't have an APU unless he likes pain.

Thanks, I will pass that info on to him. He has looked at both Cummins and Detroit, he is about a month away from making a purchase.

I put guys into the old PRIME trucks. That's what I'd recommend. Without question the best value. Some are under warranty to 600K. DD15 / 10 speed. Get 8 mpg all day long. They have an APU. Serious no brainer for someone starting out.

So 1.00-1.25 net, only cost is plates and Ins on the Truck. Not bad these days. Beats the spot market ( Midwest) right now, not sure about NE rates. Regardless, Be wary of others Revenue tales. Leased can be explained half a dozen different ways.A lot don’t really know what they’re actually making. Sounds like you do. Fuel mileage should jump up around 70 k? Or so, and after the first overhead, b-4 100 k? Or whatever’s suggested.I just set up this week, 3 trips totaling 3200 miles. Bottom line after fuel, unfortunately is a little less than yours. Add trailer and liability costs. You’re way ahead.
