Quick reference chart?
-
-
I made this chart for myself so as I compare companies. I wanted to have a quick reference on how much I can make.
50 cents a mile is better than 45 cents a mile you would think. But if you get just a few more miles at 45 cents you can make a lot more money
I used to make 25 an hour but they didn't pay overtime. I could have gotten a job making 17.50 an hour that did pay overtime and brought home the same paycheck.
I hope drivers can use this when determining what company to work for as well as determining when it's time to move on to other opportunities. -
If you want to take it a step further divide it by 70.
70 is for the work week hours.
If you're stuck at a shippers, waiting on a load or just done early you are still working a full week. Anything less and being at home with your family is work whether you get paid for it or not.De Trucker, ghostcookie and RoadRooster Thank this. -
What if someone don't want a mileage paid job.
Never coming home.
He'd rather be home making load or hour pay. -

Where is the 40 hr work week?
sevenmph Thanks this. -
Real life estimate for an OTR company driver is that every cent per mile difference in your pay is equal to about $1,000 per year...Assuming the mileage is similar. Difference between 40 cpm and 50 cpm is about $10,000 per year. Yes before everyone starts slamming my statement, this is based on both drivers running about the same amount of miles and same time off.
Midwest Trucker Thanks this.
