My opinion: If you are leaving money on the table it's your own fault...no matter what side of the fence your on. Business is business. Truckers want to make the most they can and so do Brokers. Don't shoot the messenger..it's business.

I agree, they are doing their job and doing it well. If drivers don't like brokers, educate yourself and book your own loads. I'm not a logistics broker, but have considered it.

Im curious if anyone is willing to answer this question.

What does the average trucker make per year? 40K-60K, more or less?
Seems like alot of guys are upset they aren't making 100K per year, but if you cant live on making 40K-50K , that may be your problem and nothing to do with brokers or 'low' rates.

It is my belief that while these brokerages might make alot of money as a company, the average employees or agents are not making more than 40K-50K. There are some who break the mold and make 100K+ per year but the vast majority do not.

Why in the hell would I buy a truck and trailer to make 60k a year when when I can get a job driving someone else's truck making 75k on the low end.

I am really perplexed and confused. When I say that 50K per household is too little, everyone is protesting. When I say 2 dol per hub miles ain't bad. Everyone is protesting too. In my calculations 2 dol per mile will give you net of more than 50K per year, even closer to about 100K per year, but definitely more than 50k per year... What the hell?

Just because someone disagrees with you that 50k year is required just to survive doesn't mean they advocate running cheap freight. I didn't buy a truck just to survive. If I just wanted to survive I could deliver pizzas part time and make 35k a year.

Brokers should be negotiating fair rates for them and carriers after all isnt that what your skill is suppose to be ?. Its to easy for brokers to accept rates that are below operating costs because they dont have anywhere near the skin in the game. My opinion is they need to start telling shippers no thats not acceptable. Almost everything that could go wrong is absorbed by the carriers not to mention the 10-20% milage we lose on these air mile loads vs. truck route miles. Try sitting in stopped traffic for three hours burning fuel getting paid nothing because an accident a few times per month and lmk if you like it.
