Life gave me lemons, grinding to save for cdl school. advice needed

Long story short, I lost everything in the crash of 2009 (house, wife, job). Currently 34 years young with no kids and moved back in with my folks helping take care of them while working a crap job at a gas station. I have a commercial pilots license and instructor ratings, but planes are expensive and require monies to stay current, as well as, profitable. A cdl class A would be my stepping stone of sorts to get back into a flying career. My main question is how much monies should I save to get my cdl? Currently have around $4500 saved and shooting for around 7k total for school and living exspenses. Do you think 7k is enough or should I save another grand or 2. Thank you for your advice and wisdom

 

@rabbiporkchop, I am keeping the pilots license. I just need money to maintain currency with the faa. Hence the cdl for around a year or two

 

@DenBob your right no one likes ground lemons!. I am concerned about quitting my job and not having any income to make ends meet. Trying to be resonsible about this life speed bump

 

@Chinatown, yes multiple schools within my area to choose from.

 

@Chinatown it is not the schooling that concerns me; mainly the financial aspect to be able to support myself during the training period for cdl.
