Called central and said there suppose to be 8-18” of snow tonight on I-70. Roads been opening and closing all day wouldn’t be a good idea to run. Central tells me stay home try again tomorrow night. Little tired of the snow especially in May almost June. Glad I shut down. A lot of people this time of year are out of towners also passing thru. Not people you want to drive around with in the snow. Seen some motorcycles get caught in the snow this year.lol.

Whole flock of HD riders were sitting at a TS in AZ yesterday, waiting out a snow squall. Hour or so later sky was clear and sunny. May can be cruel.

Sitting in the doctor's office with my wife, who has been waylaid by an illness.

Work call. Two hours to get to the terminal.

    That on-call life, son.

Denver needs like 20-30 feeder drivers team and solo. I got a call back in 15 min. after dropping an app. It was on a Friday so I was asleep and HR guy said be there at 10am Monday on my VM. I thought to myself slow down sparky. How about let me schedule it I’m not the desperate one. I have a good job I’m just keeping my options open.

Over the weekend talking to a feeder driver one of my friends knows. I realize I don’t want to do it. Why? No schedule for YEARS decade possibly. Extraboard. Possibly no daylight shift in my entire 20 year term. No vacation my first year. I’m only acouple years from a dayshift and I’m already on a schedule. Also they gave me 2 weeks vacation. Also money wise it’s a decent jump but we should be in the .70cpm+ soon. I know UPS is .80’s-.90’scpm but waiting for people to retire in an easy job is hard to wait for. I don’t want to be in my 60’s and finally get a daylight run. Heard the #1 driver started in 79. Something crazy like that. If your soley in it for the money make the jump on feeder. Just wasn’t for me. I did finish the app and no call back. Oh well. I’m perfectly fine where I’m at.

It's certainly not for everyone. And if you are close to a daytime shift at your current place, it will be tough to give that up. I was allegedly on the cusp of getting a bid at ABF, but was completely disgusted by a lot of things at my terminal that were specific to my terminal, and not the company as a whole.

Every location is different. At my current terminal, I will get a bid after roughly 4 years. That was acceptable to me. And if you think the top guy starting in 1979 is disgusting? Our top guy started when The Beatles were still together.

Either way, I'm glad you are happy where you are, and I wish you luck.

Ups Team guys make BANK!! You get the truck miles no split. For example 6000 miles x .94cpm= yours. NO SPLIT. Like I said if your in it for the money jump on it. Heard their in the .80’s-90’s cpm range also. Something crazy like that. Unless I heard it wrong.

I believe they split the mileage, but they both get full hourly pay when they are delayed.

What’s a “feeder” driver? On their website it says 2 years experience required. I only got 1. Are they flexible with that?

I know they have 4 days runs... if only they had 3 days runs! I would do that. I did sleeper teams before with YRC money was good but that lifestyle sucks. If your not sitting you sleeping. Then on my day or 2 home I would spend almost an entire day cooking all my food for the upcoming week.
