So I have high pressure in my crankcase and my cooling system on my MX13 engine. I do not have water in my oil at all either. And I figured out when the pressure goes up in the engine, it gives an engine light for high oil pressure and that's when I start leaking coolant out of the bottom of the seal around the water pump. As long as I can keep the light from coming on I won't lose coolant. I know the engine probably needs a rebuild, but I want to know why or what is actually happening so that if it happens again to another truck I will know what it is.

    Thanks for your help,

I would suggest you get into a shop and have your issues professionally diagnosed before condemning the engine needing rebuilt. Do research and find a shop that works on them often. The issues you describe may not be as bad as you think. This engine, when maintained, is not common to have head gasket or excessive crankcase pressure issues.

It does have oil pressure sensor issues and coolant leaks from the water pump area are also common.

What year engine and what are the miles and hrs?

Well there are other extenuating circumstances as to why I'm not gonna follow up on getting the engine fixed, so I'm really just here to see what it may have been that was causing the issue.

As for the year and mileage it's a 2012 with 700,000 miles on it. And the leak I had is from the water pump itself, so you're spot on there. But as I described before the coolant wouldn't leak as long as I could keep the RPMs down or keep the pressure in the system down. And the oil pressure gauge read 100 all the time, even with the engine of .

If the oil pressure gauge is stuck at 100 KOEO this is a instrumentational issue or pressure sensor stuck in range.

The cooling system builds pressure as engine temperature increases. The fact that the pump leaks at higher rpm may just be the nature of the leak, not that there is an underlying issue causing it to leak.

These components can fail with age. The pump has seals and rubber gasket the get dry and hard with age and use. Parts can fail.......I wouldnt search for an underlying issues unless symptoms occur after the items are repaired.

Well that's what happened. I had the coolant leak repaired only to have it do the same thing a day afterwards.

It's no big deal, I've moved on to another truck. Just wanted to know.
