So, because I'm fat, I lose my job? Nevermind the fact that, besides my weight, I'm healthy as a horse? You want to kick a driver with my experience out of the industry?
Okay, welfare it is, then.
New restrictions on who can drive?

Pot is a DQ on schedule one under DEA, trucking is a public safety position so it's still a hard ban against use.
Yes the senate is working on removing pot from schedule one but even if they did do it, trucking companies have the right to ban same and enforce it through drug testing.
You will find if you drive long enough that the associations only pander to the Government elected officials for this and that for thier own needs, never that of the driver. You as a driver do not feel the hand of any of the associations that is supposidely involved in trucking. It's at the Motor Carrier Ownership and Board of directors Level. Never the office or drivers or mechanics level.
Politicians like Warren have their own problems. As most do. They do not have any experience trucking and will not be able to be effective in Congress when 435 is tied down by "Gang of 8" leadership with voting schedule for any given legislative day. You will find precious little trucking involved in Congress.
Don't worry about the driver supply. The more whom decide to leave trucking the more immigrants come here with broken english on cards and get in that truck, then go kill people now and then because they have not been given the necessary education on english language or training in different situations in mountains etc.
Training in trucking is compressed to making that "Student" a mule or half a team to run overnight to meet walmart appts while the trainer sleeps in the bed. It is not likely trainee is able to gain the payroll that the trainer has. For example My spouse when she was trainee with me for 12 weeks, her gross pay was 300. Net less than that each week. I was paid close to 1600 net. The entire year was a wash because each of us grossed 34K after 306 days out away from home (Service days) and 221,000 miles run. essentially not worth teaming.
At one point I thought about that I should improve and get back into it as of two months ago. Well there is a database that is being raised up to make pernament lifetime your history of violations and failed tests etc. I decided then that trucking OTR etc of itself is a failed insitution and will never gain the economic life that you would like to earn compared to other jobs that have the earnings potential but does not involve driving that truck for 0.34 a mile.Last edited: May 26, 2019

On a side note: China has already done great work and made great progress in cataloging the activities of it's subjects in provinces like Xinjiang, where a GPS tracks every automobile, you need a retina-scan to fuel up at the gas station, police stop you on the corner to make sure the govt' mandated spyware is installed in your phone, and your family is forced to host party members in your household once in a while. They are also making enormous progress on facial recognition software in intersections, shopping malls, etc. so that the people can be tracked and their every move recorded to be used against them whenever the State or a bureaucrat deems it convenient.
After all, it's data-driven and purely for SAFETY, and who can be against safety!?!
Why shouldn't we trust Saint Martinez & the other FMCSA administrators with that kind of power?

At this point I'm not sure if this guy is serious or being a troll...

Supposedly you can take small quantities of the "legal" medicine on flights now so changes are being made. It is really about money not safety.

I mean heck the TSA is come out and said they aren't looking for marijuana... I'm not even sure They confiscated or They confiscated but they don't alert local police if it's under a certain amount. They Don't Really Care. I agree the culture has just moved on past marijuana prohibition and it's only the federal government and its tentacles everywhere that keep it from being openly sold and invested in.
