I would have risked it and been short a few lbs. on delivery. Nothing the receivers can complain about.

At a 1.40 for a team into Denver they were assuming that it would be picked up by stoners.

I almost left the shipper with one of these "AG-Load - PKG in totes" (big bags of shredded marijuana - which neither myself nor the broker knew) destin to a place called Falcon AG Processing - obviously using some deception.

Like the OP I received the load from a broker I've used a lot. Rate was 3.20 / mile to Washington - from Waterbury VT. I think "Score one for me"

When loading I noted the strong smell of what could only be marijuana. I called the broker and asked if he knew what this load was. The people at the warehouse were vague about what the product was. It was an old brick warehouse that someone had taken a great deal of time to clean up and install what looked like a 1st rate air cycling system and bright lighting. The dock was inside a closed area - nothing new to me - they are normal in MN and ND.

The broker called the shipper, I went inside to get an actual answer and not some vague b.s. run around.

Broker calls me in about 15 min and tells me to get that load off your truck immediately. I'll give you $1000 for your time and pay for a washout. I've also got a load for you at a higher rate.

It was a load of "hemp" but I'm pretty darn sure it wasn't the trash parts of marijuana plants. I'm pretty sure it was a load of shredded full plants buds and all - maybe more buds than plants - who knows.

From what I've learned - the CBD oil people only want the bud parts of the plant because that's the part with the most oil - oh and it's also the part with the highest THC levels. It's supposed to be .3% THC concentration to be considered hemp but who can even verify this?
There are very misleading laws on what is considered hemp and what is considered marijuana and it seems to be based on the THC level. The growers (if you have the misfortune to deal with one) will try to spin you a load of bull and dazzle you with some garbage about concentration levels specific gravity GCS & GCH testing blah blah blah. Then they'll go to the "oh you're just not up on current laws regarding hemp" and attempt to "school the stupid truck driver".

My response was "get that #### off my truck". I wasn't going to indulge this d-bag stoner with his stoner logic.

I could have probably called DEA but what would it get me but a protracted fight which I received zero in compensation.

Beware of these loads. You as a driver can find yourself in a world of legal trouble if you take one and are pulled over.

    Yep.

Hemp and Marijuana are the same species of plant, cannabis sativa. The only difference between them is a legal one.

Hemp, by U.S. law, must contain less than 0.3% THC by weight.

The big problem is, like any organism, each plant is different.

To grow true hemp, one must not only start with hemp seed (specially bred for low THC production) one must adhere to strict sunlight, temperature, and watering conditions or else the plant can and will adapt to its environment by reverting to it's more natural state and producing excess THC.

Since the 0.3% limit represents such a small fraction of total weight, it is VERY easy to accidentally exceed that limit during the growing process.

A grower is then faced with the prospect of destroying his entire crop or shipping it, risk free on your truck, to try and get it sold.

And... all it takes is for one individual plant or part of one plant to exceed that limit! If that happens to be the plant that the police pull out of your trailer to test, bye bye. You're going to prison.
