So I live out in Manchester, happy w/ my current job but curious as to what I hear from some wal mart guys about the raymond, nh and lewiston, me warehouses not too far from me.

Those drivers get home every night? Is that true?

Also, any walmart driver in the northeast/new england area... do you ONLY run from dc's to local stores or do you pick up at suppliers and other warehouses too? and if the pay is 48cpm plus a 5% northeast premium... how can you possibly make 70k a year unless you run about 12,000 miles a month?!?!

We also have “activity” and layover pay. Sitting in a dock, anything over 45 minutes after your arrival starts “unscheduled time”.

Activity is an Arrival, a Hook, and a Live Load/Unload.

A little bit of money all the time equals a lot.

It depends.... right now in Raymond they have a couple of day cab openings. Running nights. Heard those guys make $$$. But yeah, generally most guys are out sleeping in the truck... but you get paid for it so....

ah ok that's the info I was looking for. so it's the night watchmen, eh? graveyard shift between 8pm and 8am? I suck at night driving so...

Now can anyone break down the current activity pay? $$$ per drop, $$$ per hook, does the detention get paid out in 15minute increments after the 45th minute or do they round it down to the nearest hour? how much for a liveload and live unload, respectively? how much do they pay you to sleep out in the truck?

    many thanks!

oh. so it's not like LTL linehaul? I did a fair amount of that for NEMF before they went belly up... really sucked coming on duty at 9pm and running until 11am every night... the hours between 1 and 5am were the absolute worst!

Walmart is in the top few highest-paying jobs. You might want to go talk to a recruiter there. They require 30 months experience in the last 36 months.
I would imagine they are very particular about the other qualifications too, like driving record, work history and so forth.
It is rare if ever to see a Walmart driver doing something very stupid like the student driver companies do.
Aside from Walmart, my research shows that the highest pay is among private fleets like captive (not for hire) gasoline haulers, captive industrial gas haulers, and like that. They don't have to use 1970 freight rates to pay their drivers.

Not like NEMF lol. They do have multiple stops in grocery runs but it isn’t LTL. General merchandise is all drop and hook. I had a guy start with me a month ago from NEMF and he loves it...

Delay pay starts after 45 minutes (unless you're broke down...that starts immediately), pays .2333 per minute ($14/hr)
Layover pay (sleeping in truck/10hr break) is $42/night
    Drop/hooks are around $19.25-19.50, I forget.
    Live loads/unloads are like $21
I get 51/cpm weekdays, 57cpm weekends (been here almost 6 years)
