So, I bought a Crete truck in the beginning of this year, and have been running with them since then. I have learned a good bit, and am starting to look forward to the next step.
I am looking to lease onto one of the larger o/o centric companies with a load board, so I can start learning how to pick my own freight. Nothing complicated. OTR. No hazmat. Reefer or dry van.
I would also like for the company to act as a factoring service, so I can avoid billing issues for the time being. Learning billing is part of the next step, if I go that deep into o/o.
This is not a short term decision. I will be staying on with Crete for several more months at least.
One of the things I will be exploring before moving is refinancing the truck. I have good credit, and the current truck loan isn't bad, but I would like to wrap the truck into a Credit Union loan of some sort, which should save me some money, but I am unsure how good a rate I will get outside of the company Crete uses to finance their trucks.
So, anyone working for an OTR reefer or dry van o/o centric company with a load board want to comment on their company?
O/O looking for info on companies with load boards.

What I am looking for are folks who have experience working with those companies, and others, who are willing to talk about what they liked and what they did not. -

Hazmat Endorsement is mandatory at Landstar.
You don't have to pull it. But it's kind of always there. Usually pays decent.Farmerbob1, JoeyJunk and Scooter Jones Thank this. -
Something like "Welcome to MAG CARRIERS, LLC" might be what you're looking for?
If you don't mind me asking I'm curious what would or would not appeal to you about this model. I'm considering growing my business using a similar model. I've had my authority for 4 years now so insurance is getting pretty affordable.
