2011 D13 I Shift Died and now won’t crank.

Hello everyone!

I need advice.

The truck battery was showing low voltage before cranking it 10.4 Volts. Truck cranked a little slower but started fine, it ran for about 10-15 seconds and then died. After that it has messages and it won’t crank.

- Maintenance Required Gearselector ECU
- Maintenance Required Vehicle ECU
- Check Transmission
- J1939 Communication Error with Engine ECU

After that I tested the batteries and found 2 that needed to be replaced, I put 4 good batteries (from another truck but tested ok) but still have the same messages and no crank.

Tried to look for bad fuses but can’t find anything, any help is appreciated.

I can’t find an option to delete, can the administrator remove it please?

Update!

I swapped the Engine Mounted ECU and the truck started. The transmission shifts fine but I have a check engine light and it won't access from the dashboard diagnostic screen.

Bottom line burned computer, does anyone know of a repair service, is it realible? Volvo wants about $1200 for it.

It was the engine ECM, the one mounted on the side of the Engine.

I tried it with one from another truck and started right up, but it won't communicate with everything else in the truck, the I shift shifts different as well. Still drives fine though.

Looking into getting a new one from Volvo now.
