If they're slamming the brokers with loads you can probably count on lots of trucks and a resultant line to load and unload.
I still wonder why, with all the local haulers available down there, they have to go to brokers to get trucks.

The freight pendulum has shifted and now the brokers have the upper hand. They don't have to pay up for local haulers, they know there's lots of guys sitting around with empty trailers and they can float this junk out there and SOMEONE will haul it for fuel money. 6 months to 1 year ago, they wouldn't dream of posting a load like that.

Plus, the local guys know this mine and the product and what a pain in the ## it is dealing with that stuff. OTR guys with no knowledge see this on a load board: ***LOOSE LOAD OF GYPSUM THAT IS FLOOR LOADED ON SCALES AT THE MINE. LOAD TIME LESS THAN 30 MINUTES**

**TRAILER IS TILTED TO DUMP LOOSE MATERIAL FROM TRAILER AND FREE WASH OUT PROVIDED** UNLOAD TIME LESS THAN 30 MINUTES.

Less that 30 minutes in and out and free wash out and you're good to go, yeah ok.

1st off who's the gypsum manufacturer in Plant City?

2nd, if hauling gypsum board in a dry van made you nervous, you must've been a bad driver.

We haul Gypsum board from manufacturers all over the US on flatbeds. I haul it on a weekly basis, tarped and through rainstorms and have never lost a single piece. Its literally some of the easiest flatbed loads available.

I picked up a load of gypsum boards at Pabco Gypsum. It's near Las Vegas . In the middle of mountains , just few miles off SR 147. They inspected the trailer about 15 minute. The shipper guy told me it's fragile and I need to be careful.

He's not talking about gypsum board but rather raw gypsum. Basically they're dumping a load of white powder right into the trailer that isn't bagged or packaged in any way.

    Intothesunset Thanks this.
  7. now he's talking about raw gypsum kind of like running around with raw zinc or raw talc or taconite..
but a whole lot more messier kind of like hauling carbon black

I guess I could see checking a dry van for leaks, but Ive never seen a box get loaded with sheetrock before. Most loads of it are 47-48k. Ive had them load me in Houston with almost 50k before and ended up grossing 81660 I think it was. Definitely not putting that in a van and stay legal on the axles.

Also he said gypsum sheets. So the assumption is sheets of gypsum board.

As for running the actual powder in a van, that sounds miserable. Unless maybe a guy could swipe a Swift trailer and use it lol.

I had a load of rice starch palleted in 60 pound bags last month and several of the bags busted open. When the water hit the starch during the wash out it turned to gravy. What a freekin mess.

Load time 30 min,,,,,,but what he doesn't say is how long it takes to get to the loader, as in 20 trucks in line. Plus, Blythe is the mailing address, the actual load area is waaay out there ! Have fun
