Hi Everyone, I am preparing to take my CDL drive test this coming weekend and I have a few lingering questions that I could use some help with.

    RIG:

Ram Dually + Gooseneck Car Trailer

    Questions:

    1) The fire extinguisher, where do ya'll recommend I properly mount and secure it? Should it be within reach of the driver seat or behind, in-between?

    2) The reflective triangles, do those have to be "properly mounted and secured" inside the cabin? Or can they be placed inside my trailers lockbox where I keep the tire straps? I don't have a toolbox in my bed and I don't think they can just sit on the floor in my back seat, or can they?

    3) Spare fuses, I went to a local auto parts store and picked up a spare fuse kit. I checked all my fuse boxes in the vehicle and made sure I have all the correct sizes and amperages. I keep the spares in my glovebox. Anything else I should know?

Appreciate any other tips or advise. Everyone on here has been super helpful with all my other questions so thanks again!

I don't think it matters were the fire extinguisher is mounted. You just have know were it is a make sure it's good working order. It has to be mounted some place but that up to you I believe. It has to be certain size if I remember correctly

The triangles have to be on your truck. You just have know were they are and be able to show them if the D.O.t ever wants to see them. They have to be on our tractor so I would guess the same for your Ram Truck

the rating is more important on the fire extinguisher. spare bulbs, fuses, etc. triangles have to be with truck like the other person said. tire gauge, right chains and straps

I have not thought about those in years, the fire extinguisher has to be the correct rating and secured with it's own ring somewhere. And behind a access panel door or door saying "Fire extinguisher inside." I just toss a bottle into the floor boards in the back, but if I wreck and roll my vehicle it's going to become a death tool waiting to cave in someone's brain pan. #### thing weights 20 pounds and yea high. Ive fought many fires with those. Some fires are just too big you stay clear.

Your fuses etc is wonderful. DO NOT TRY TO STICK a higher amp fuse into a lower slot. You are going to overdrive those wires and burn your vehicle down. Ive done it a time or two in winter and cheated. But that smell means Ive got some shop time coming. And in those days the bossman growled and says here is tool box, part put it in yourself today before you go out. (Not a licensed mechanic whatsoever, a absolute mountain taught shade tree...) ha...

I don't know what else to tell you, I .. don't know much about goosenecks and dualies. We have a mess of them around and once in a great while the court is pleased to nail for out of Class License. (CDL vehicle on car license)

I actually know how to spot weld. And a little bead or tack even. Thanks to the generosity of the state.

Computer robots do the spot welds now and plasma burners bury welds under materials to keep out oxygen under computer control in mills.

With all that we still have a old time metal shop where people cut beams and weld some things to order.

Thanks all for the responses, and especially for reminding me to get spare bulbs. Are snow chains required as part of the pre-trip? It’s basically summer now lol.

Off topic but are you using your 3500 for the over the road test or a class 8 truck?
