Doing an online CDL program now with nice reviews and it is helping me retain the information.
I want to cover the air brakes, g.k., and combos...
but if I wind up doing good on those I plan on getting my endorsements.
I would like to get Tanker and Haz Mat for sure, but if I can keep retaining the information for endorsements and the written test and actually pass the actual school/road test them I want all the endorsements so I can apply anywhere.

I think it would be kind of impressive if a rookie, never driven a truck before driver showed up to an interview with most of the endorsements on his license after finishing school.
I know tanker is for the inexperienced but I like to see if I can manage it, seems to pay good and isn't much in the way of loading and unloading, just have to remember in all aspects safety is paramount.
Like to work hauling fuel for a local company, or even hauling milk.... at least that wouldn't explode.

Werner have pull flatbed out of pompano and pepsi out of Hollywood. You might be able to get local, regional or dedicated from one of those accounts.

That is great advice. Yeah Pepsi and Coke are local here. Pepsi doesn't pay it is local delivery drivers delivering Soda.
I will definitely look at Werner.

If I don't find anything local maybe regional or even dedicated or line haul...

Something where I am still home often. I saw Schneider had a 7 out 7 home schedule which I personally am not sure I would like that but it doesn't sound too bad if it's realistic.

To be honest, I just started looking at this and it seems based on my location a lot of jobs aren't local unless it Food service for sf or maybe a tanker job with a big carrier that wants a year or so experience.
It is a bit discouraging that I am not finding much.

Yes great description. My friend runs line haul at night back and forth like a couple hundred miles 1 way and then back. Been doing for a while with FedEx and was a dock worker and they covered his CDL for him. Been there around 10 years now... unfortunately I don't hsve 2 years time to work a dock or can afford the pay scale to work a dock and hope to start driving.

I will look into these companies. I also found SAIA too which looks good and is local. Any other companies you can think of?
I found one random company locally that will pay for CDL wants a 1 year contract for it but it a beer delivery company. So i am sure the pay is like 35-40k. It's a smaller company.
Never really worked for a small company in any of my careers. I know the bigger companies typically have better opportunities more pay and better benefits but not sure how that plays out in the trucking industry.

--> I also noticed some local jobs like pepsi, coke, furniture, and beer don't really list jobs i found them only by knowing the company name and looking them up... sure sure I am missing some other companies to look into.

Do you know more about how maybe one would get into it?
