then you were just going to fast.

you likely will have some cracking in the brake shoes. if you'r lucky it won't be bad enough to be seen from the edge or you'll have to replace them as cracked brake shoes are an OOS violation.

this and you other "adventures" are the problem with heading out on the road with no exerience. IT'S A VERY EXPENSIVE WAY TO LEARN. this, the tow truck, the air bags you'll likely be replacing.... your lucky enough to have money behind you most others are not so lucky

    be careful

Brief Analysis of the last 9 days trucking:

I bolded the main columns this time: Total miles associated with the trip, what the load paid to ME in real dollars, and the associated dollar per mile (this is turning out to be more of a guideline than something of great importance, the number is low but the real dollars are good)

    Miles driven for period: 5,270

Total billed to Eclipse AFTER broker:
    $5703.77

    - Fuel expense: $1551.52
    - Truck/Trailer/Ins for period (figuring 10 days): $927.66

$3224.59 Left for driver pay and various funds (maintenance, repair, permits, taxes, tolls, washes, etc.)

One disclaimer: I was already under load at home when I left on the 2nd to deliver in Elkin and had driven most of the way already. Both times I went home for 2.5 days I lost a lot of momentum and income associated with those weeks. Staying out 10 days seems to work well for making good money.

At ADM, seemed to be downtown off Mcarthur and Washington. It's where I took that pic of the long line of trucks I was in. Very nervous driving down there.

So which Pilot were you trying to get to when you called the hook in?

That area of Peoria was always a pain in the neck driving a cab. Always hated heading towards the old riverfront.

Yeah the money is probably there, I just don't know how much I can really keep yet. I haven't cut myself a real paycheck yet or looked into the taxes and social security and all that. Also you just don't know what the truck will cost until you know. You can put in some cents per mile for it but in the end the truck will tell you what you're going to pay, not the other way around. I think 1k a week would be safe though without too much problem. My best guess is I'll do 65 to 75k, but we'll see.

That was in Teutopolis where I unloaded before my deadhead to Peoria. Where 57 meets 70.

    I don't wanna think about it...:biggrin_25516:

    That'd be the Effingham Pilot.

How'd you miss turning into it?

You come off the ramp and make a right to a light. At that light the pilot is across the street on the right with entrances on the street you are on, and also you could take a right and then turn left into the pilot.

From the light you can't tell which way is correct except to guess. Straight ahead there was a sign (Being nice, it's a piece of cardboard propped up on a stick) that says trucks and has an arrow pointing into what looks like the entrance.

So I went straight. By the time I was already at the corner you can then tell that the sign is just before the entrance and was really telling you to turn right at the light. The entrance the sign was at was only for cars.

Once going down that road, there's nothing but "No Semi's" and "No Turn-arounds" signs. I've never seen anything like that so it's fairly obvious this happens several times daily. It's the drivers, not the pilot getting screwed over by the confusion, and the townspeople are just pissed regardless.
