Usually mines and other locations are governed by the Mining regulations, you must go through a short course on their rules. Beep horn once before starting engine, twice before moving forward, three times before backing up, and 4 times if an emergency. I loaded a reefer with pallets of rock in bags at a dock, but seen other trucks, truck and trailers being loaded right on the scale. (Washington State) 4 axle truck and 4 axle trailer. If something bad happens, the operator of the mine has 15 minutes to notify authorities. Very safety conscience area.

If I've never been there I just park, and walk into the scale house. They're going to want to know your company name, truck number, material you're picking up, and who is paying for it.

While you're in there ask what channel the scales and loaders use. You will then have to pull on the scale to get an empty weight.

You will then have to talk to the loader operators to find out where the material is at. Ask if they want you to back up to the pile, or how they want you positioned. If there are already trucks sitting there you need to know which side they're loading on. Drivers side it typical, but don't assume that. The operator will ask how much you want. You need to know how much you can haul, and tell him how many tons. I normally ask in 1/2 ton increments such as 24, 24 1/2, 25 tons etc.

Most quarries won't let you leave over weight so if you get too much you will have to go back and dump some off. So if you can haul 80k I would normally ask for a 1k less than what would be my max.

After loading you go back to the scales depending on how they're set up you will probably have to tell them your truck number and what scale number you're on. After you get the green light you pull off the scale, and most places have a printer that spits out a several copies of your ticket. Sign one and stick it in the slot, and keep the rest. Tarp and you're good to go.

One Quarry was actually two. Side by side since before we were America. A wide strip of land left uncut between two 1000 foot holes with a giant yellow line painted on left. 14 inches wide. Plant left steer in center.

That is after you fill out waiver to death and possibly your will and testament if you havent already. Sometimes your outer tires will hang over 1000 feet of space.

If you did go over, use the 40 seconds you have left to tell everyone close good bye before the final stop on your way from this life.

Are we talking a gravel pit. I have never hauled out of any in Washington, but have off and on in several states for 40 years, still do at times, I have never seen any of these things at all.
