Doing the GetYourCDL program with them. I know a few that started with them and moved on. So figured I would try it.

    They chose reffer for me.

    Grey dogging it to Wisconsin?

Wrap the coat and the pillow in the sleeping bag. Carry your important stuff, papers you may need, phone charger, 3 pair jeans, 5 tees, your overnight stuff (toothbrush, combs...etc), and shower shoes, 2 pair work gloves. Wear a tee shirt, a hoodie, and a pair of jeans and your favorite pair of shoes to work and drive in. That will give you 6 shirts and 4 pair jeans (better get a pack of socks and underwear too). That should be more than enough.

You're gonna get shuffled around for a week in orientation and until you get into your trainer's truck, so you need to travel light. Tag the sleeping bag and let them stick it under the bus. Leave it in the motel when you get into orientation. The duffle bag with your important stuff, keep with you at all times. Be sure to carry enough funds to get your arse back home just in case things don't work out between you and Roehl. And have some cash on you to float you through the first few weeks before your money starts moving.

    Luck in battle.

On the Greyhound, keep valuables, paperwork, with you on the bus. Anything placed in luggage compartment can be stolen easily. Happens a lot.

One thing that wasnt mentioned? If it doesnt all fit in one military duffle bag? Your bringing too much! That duffle bag will cary your bedding (twin mattress) and sleeping bag. Truck space is limited. I remember when I was with CR England there were people I wanted to call pansies that showed up with 6 piece luggage. I mean seriously, it was like they thought they were going to stay at a golf club and drink martinis. Most of the trainers I saw then would refuse the trainee becuase of the lugage that the trainee didnt want to part with. If one of those pairs of pants is sweat type pants, dont be surprised if the trainer laughs at you. Sweats are fine for the truck, yet denim pants is recomended for every day use. Below is the comon stuff.
    -7 tee shirts
    -3 pairs of pants
-1 nice shirt and pants if there is something special to attend.
-1 decent shirt unless wearing a company shirt. You want to wear this when your going to the receiver/shipper
-10 days of underwear and socks (generally your trainer will be stopping on a weekend to get laundry done)
-Microabsorbent towel is required by all companies for drying after shower.
-Personal gear for what you do when showering, soap, shaving cream, shaver and so on
-2 pillow cases. Why two? One for dirty laundry. Kind of a joke at the CR England hotel in Indianna. The hotel went through alot of pillow cases as newb drivers would grab the hotels supply for laundry bags.
-When on Greyhound, you will want the pillow for your own creature comfort. The seats are not that great for sleeping.
-If you take a laptop (always a good idea), make sure you have the suitcase for it. As mentioned above. carry the papers with you. Tho no one messed with my duffle bag with a padlock on it. Also companies will want a summary of your last 3 years of taxes. Regardless of you being solo company driver. Get a USB aircard for the laptop. Verizon unlimited $70 a month is my prefference. Good way to pretrip.
-Coat should be durable to wear in the rain and keep you warm to 32F.
-Companies require safety tread. They dont require steel toed shoes. Safety tread can be found on sneakers too. Nothing in the books that says no sneakers
-if you use a debit card instead of a credit card, you will need to tell the bank that you will be going over the road. Otherwise they may shut you off and you will need to call them. Tho the company will supply you with a card eventually that you can use that some of your paycheck goes into. I did 50/50. Half to the company card, other half to home.

You will stay in the hotel until you get your cdl. Then you will go home for a few days or a week and arrange a time and place to meet your trainer. They will rent you a car and you will meet your road trainer at some truck stop. Don’t bother bringing a sleeping bag to the hotel. Appleton is warm in the summer. Walking into customer freezers in shorts and t shirt can be a relief this time of year.

I did roehl reefer over a year in slippers.
