Hi, just curious on your advice, since it's your specialty. im looking at two trucks a Freightliner Cascadia DD15 with 505000 and a Prostar ISX15 with 370000. Which is ther better truck in your opinion? I know there will be several other determining factors, but just an overall opinion? thx
Thinking of doing a rebuild on a DD15? DONT!

I have a dd15 engine. This have 1.2milion miles. The truck in great shape. I own it longtime ago. I have new Starter new fuel pump new injectors new waterpump and I wanna rebuild the engine. My mechanic said he can give me 6 month warranty or 80 000 Miles warranty. I may wanna get new turbo and new air-compressor. Overhaul kit is 6500. Labor 6000. So I will end it up with $16500. It’s a def free engine. I just don’t wanna waste 60k for a truck with 500k Miles. On that half way trucks need a lot of work I only wanna drive 2 more years. That’s all. Like 200k. What you think ? It is good idea ?

80,000 seems like an odd number for warranty purposes.
I know nothing about the dd15, except the one that followed me to prudhoe and back this trip impressed me.
When I had my series 60 rebuilt I took it to stewart and stevenson, price was as good as anybodys, better than most and it came back with a 300,000 mile warranty.gekko1323 Thanks this. -
Actually warranty is 100k but this is usa so I always think 20% is always lie. Real parts and labor is :
$5500 labor
$5800 parts
Warranty 100k
I wish I have 60 series engine at my garage ...Attached Files:

Cummings used to do a Now I : One year 100,000. Now II : 2 yr 200,000 or a Now III : 3 yr or 300,000 miles. The company I worked for was having 2's done as they would sell them before the third year.
Regardless of any of that I would get it rebuilt somewhere and run it two more years. -
