i doubt it'll be a done deal in that 3 year span for any reason you stated.

i do not foress any such trucks on the roads, in massive numbers for at the very least 15-20 years from now, and yes, the "so called drivers" will be a lower wage earner than nearly any fast food place, or bagger at the grocery store...

When these robo trucks start going the motoring public is going to be in for a rude awakening!
When they realize they only will be moving at 50 mph!! Because that’s as fast as they need to go.

That 3-year timeframe starts after the liability problems and ability issues are worked out. Until then, don't worry.

Funny thing, an issue they are having with AI drivers is the aggressiveness of a human driver. It is common for a 4 wheeler to cut of a truck on an offramp. They are programmed to allow that to happen.

Personally, I let a few in. But after a certain point, I make it clear to them that they can choose to put on their breaks or get hit.

i will never "be worried"...i am retired, get a nice pension and SS...it's all of you youngin's that will either be replaced or downgraded to a lower pay.......making for less SS and pension checks.

maybe best for some to get out now and get into a more higher paying job..????

Truck drivers will be no more soon ... Freedom & Capitalism leads to better and cheaper. $50,000 a year to hold a steering wheel ??? Please ... 20 years ago I knew we would be done before to long.

well then i guess you need not worry about robotic trucks then....as you really have no dog in this fight, not being a driver.......

you might have to worry about robotic psycholgist couches.....!!!!!!!!

I highly doubt it. Maybe a line haul. But not oversize and most tankers.

Most people are focusing on the transportation sector. The reality is most white collar easy job will be hit, and hard. Imagine many accountants, secretaries, and lawyers (not trial, but process) being replaced. Imagine Siri or Alexia on steroids for menial office tasks.

Not that therapy is what I am into, but I dont imagine people using a robot for therapy. But then again, look at the movie "Her".
