I started off with a Ryobi 2300 and only had it on the truck for a week before I went to HF and got a Predator 3500 inverter generator. I should have just got that to begin with but I thought, "Well, the Ryobi is a name brand and I can take it back easily if I have trouble." The Ryobi didn't have enough capacity.
If you do get a Predator, the first thing you should do is remove the charcoal canister and route the gas tank vent hose outside the enclosure. Be sure to plug off the hose going to the air cleaner so it doesn't suck dirt.
All the bad reviews you see about those running rich and surging are from overfilling the gas tank and saturating the charcoal canister. It happened to mine after anout 126 hours on it.
Chucked that canister in the trash and put an NGK BPR6ES plug in it, runs like a top again. No need to drill holes in the case or any of the other supposed fixes for the running rich.
Mine no longer has a spark arrestor either because it now runs through 15 feet of exhaust pipe.
Portable generator instead of APU
