I have heard that they have infrared scanners and can tell if you have a family of Hondurans stashed in your sleeper.

I had one of my drivers after much argument call a cop an asshalf .
In the court the next morning after relaying the whole story he was asked why he called the cop an asshalf.
He replied , "because he is not good enough to be an asswhole".
Case was dismissed but he was a stubborn bugger when it came to law enforcement.
Arrested 3 times for being stroppy with cops.
I must add this was not in the USA and the cops he dealt with deserved every bit of it.

I go through border check all the time. The guys I ride with that are green cards have to show it, then they are let through. And I gotta wake up and answer the question too.

They dont need a stall tactic. They ask this because that is the priority at border check points. Ive been asked and had BP do a quick look in the cab to make sure no illegals were riding. It took about 15 seconds total. When driving a semi in the US cops can do an inspection any time they want, with or without probable cause.
I say it all comes down to not being a dick. People who make it their life mission to give cops a hard time violate rule #1 in man code. "Dont be a dick". Cops are human just like everyone else. Their jobs bring them into contact with the worst people and people at their worst.
Anyone who would think being asked if you are a citizen, by a fricken border patrol agent at a checkpoint, is violating their rights, has some serious issues. If you aint 100% willing to stand toe to toe and duke it out with the guy, you are a fruitcake if you give him a hard time and mouth off. The fact is all these fruitcakes acting tough toward cops is proof that most cops arent corrupt. All these guys being arrogant pricks while pointing to the camera are the biggest fruitcakes anywhere.

I got caught in an absolute setup. It was made to appear as if the construction zone ended. Right after the actual construction going on. We were one lane. Then it opened up completely. No cones, no signs, no nothing. Everyone thought the construction zone had ended. Then... there's a highway patrolman set up. Pulled me over. Turns out another mile down the road. There were all the cones stacked up and signs saying end of construction zone.
Cop did a level 3 inspection. Told me I was doing 64 in a 50mph construction zone. I was in the right lane when I was supposed to be in left lane. I asked her... Did you see in the actual construction? I had people on both sides of me, 1/2 lane away, on the ground. I slowed to 30mph from the 50mph construction speed limit. Her response: No! .... When she came back from her vehicle. She was almost apologetic. Said she's giving me a clean inspection. A verbal warning on speed. And a ticket for driving in the right lane in a construction zone. .... Apparently she was able to check recording of me in the construction? She had integrity. I'm convinced she was told to be there. I imagine... We really gonna get them. Violations on inspection. Speeding. Maybe even wrong lane! We gonna get them.
Then my safety department was too insecure to let me have the drive cam video. When safety admitted it looked to them the construction was over. When talking to a lawyer. The judge is not cooperative at all. Have to prove innocence. I had to give up on fighting the wrong lane ticket.
This is much of why I'm not working for that company anymore.
