Different strokes for different folks, you can be stressed like some or just take it in stride like others.
Some will brag about how much money they make, in the next breath whine about not being paid what they are worth.
Guys whine and cry about sitting for hours to get loaded or unloaded, tight schedules or what not, yet will not even think about pulling a flat that does away with all that, others just take it in stride, knowing it is just part of it. I would 1000 times rather be on a lonely highway all by myself, but do not stress over city traffic either, it is all in ones mindset.
Some guys can handle super loads, long, wide and heavy, while others can't even contemplate pulling them.
Nobody gets rich, but with the right mind set, anybody can make a good living, local home every night or long haul, either way.

On the lease purchase thing, think about it for just a second.
There are some good reasons companies do this, but none of them are because they love you, or even care about you.
I know at least one company that can put you in a lease truck if your driving record is so bad, they can not out right hire you on as a company driver.
They can get you to make payments on a truck and drive it, maintain it baby it instead of ripping and snorting like a lot of drivers do, you will probably not be setting the brakes at 10 mph if you think you may some day have the title to your baby.
All of this for a set amount per mile, which is set according to their bottom of the barrel freight, which puts your available wages much less than what they have to pay someone to drive a company truck, especially when you include SS, workmens comp (which you now get to pay) vacations (which you no longer have) retirement, etc, etc. They also know you will stay longer trying to make it work, some till they have lost everything, than a company driver does if he isn't making bank.
I have known a few that did get title, most got a loan at some point and paid it off, but some have just finished their lease too, the trucks are generally bare bones, and not worth much, but was theirs and they could take it else where.
Also at no fault of the company, at least one time, maybe two freight will go through a slow cycle with rates to match, that also works against a guy.Lepton1, Tombstone69 and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
