That is TRULY & GENUINELY a sad situation when young teen-age girls, or any teen-agers for that matter, are hitchhiking on the nations, or Canadians', streets & highways.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

A few years ago I was sitting my truck at Donnas, north of Seattle. I had my door open and was talking on the phone, when a young girl with a backpack walked up to me. I held my hand up to signal her to wait, when she started to speak. This was on a sunday, she stood there a few seconds till the driver next to me honked his horn to get her attention, then she went to talk to him. She climbed in and in just a few minutes he pulled out. I thought that as odd, as we both had been there through the weekend and I had talked to him several times, I also knew he wasn't loading till the next day, and there just isn't a whole lot of parking in the area, but none of my business. Fast forward a couple of days and I stop in Montana, here is a reward poster with that girls picture with the same backpack, 100% her, she has run away and is just 15 years old.

Now like I said, we had been parked next to each other 2 days, I hate to get any driver in a bind, BUT I had to call the sheriffs number that was on the poster. I knew the guys name, I knew the company the truck was leased to, I even knew the small Texas town he lived in, type of truck, color, even truck number, and where he was headed when he got loaded.
I never knew the outcome, but as luck would have it, I probably had more info on this guy than any driver I have ever run across, mainly because I knew lots of people in the small town he lived in.

Today's society is so froth with issues of mental illness, diseases, criminals, and just unsavory characters. It is not really advisable to pick up strangers. There are exceptions, but one must be careful before doing so.

At one time it was easy enough to go to the coffee counter and grab a cup, it would not be long before you got a ride. I have done it myself when I had a truck break down. Times have changed, actually time is the same but people have changed, so it may not be near as easy now. lol

Well folks, it's now June 15, 2020 and I just reread this entire thread.
    Know what?
I thoroughly enjoyed reading it again. I'll probably do it again in a couple of years.
    I reckon I'm easily entertained.

Or bored out of my ever lovin' mind stayin' home tryin' not to get caught up in the Corona Kooties pandemic.

    (And wonderin' what's coming next?
I'm thinkin' that the economy will be feelin' pretty sick for awhile.)
