This guy gets it, all the same reasons I'm going to do it. Make it an experience and at the end of it have a few stories to tell. Good luck op, challenge yourself, learn something new, see some new places both good and bad, retire in a few years and look back and say......yea, I did that.

I hope your not taking what is posted in the forums litterally. There are more than a million trucks out there going long haul. Not everyone posts here or are even aware of this forum. Many have no idea what a forum or even Facebook is. So to your question? No, your not alone.

I enjoyed seeing the country for a couple years in the beginning of my career. And then I needed to be at the house. I felt like life was passing me by.

99% of my otr career, my wife and another lady ran the office and dispatched, among every other aspect of running the company, so she could not go with me very much at all.
She always wanted to run with me when the last of the kids finished school, but always said by the time she would be able to go, I would be tired of it. she was pretty much right.

Chicago isn't even that bad, NYC isn't horrible if you have common sense and trip planning. I've been through both as a first year driver a few times in NYC and Chicago multiple times. Builds up your experience.

Interesting. I was geographically 'stuck' in one spot for too long and one of the reasons I want to go about the country is because I feel life is passing me by and I'm missing too much. Interesting!

Otr was great. I was mesmerized out west. Utah i had no clue how unique that land scape is. Colarado abd Montana o was simply breath taking. Smokey mtns was amazing aswell to see the firdt time and my first trip threw them was my first mountains with my trainer. And my firet time going threw the desert new mexico Arizona and those huge cactuses... Stoping in vagas. Oh and cant forget sneaking off into Mexico during a 34 hr brake in Laredo.
