I first started in this industry last December and I went with a mega carrier just so I can get tanker experience. As most of you know not many tanking companies will hire students fresh out of school. What I experienced being stationed out of Atlanta is a lot of detention/ layover time. Is Atlanta a good Lane for regional and otr?

Right now I'm driving a reefer so that I can get my year experience but I don't want to jump back into tanking if I'm going to be in a poor area for that particular industry.

Depends on what area of tanker you want. Fuel, bulk chemical, etc.

But if you are looking for high paying tanker jobs you will need experience and move away from atl

My first tanker job was chemical with smooth bore tanks no baffles. When you say move from Atlanta, you mean out of the whole entire state of Georgia? I live in metro Atlanta about 35 minutes away.

I really hate switching carriers with less than 1 year experience but I can't stand being gone for so long driving reefer. I don't even consider my first job as a tanker as real experience in the trucking industry because it was nothing more than pure hell.

I applied to them when I was working for Schneider and I didn't get much of a response from them. They have one recruiter and the guy fully relies on the terminal manager in Atlanta to set up interviews and what not and I just never got a response out of them and it's a shame because I was really interested in working for Superior.
