Headed up to Bedford Park after I load. Been sitting at the customer for 4 hours now. Already let Erika now I'll be late on delivery tomorrow.

Got a side unloader this morning but TO said rear was needed. Got that straightened out. No rear unloader on the yard, so off to Grace TW I go. Tank is clean, but the gasket on the dome lid is hanging out. Took a while to put that in with a rubber mallet.

Get to customer and product isn't ready. Another tanker goes ahead to unload. He's having issues.

No problem. As the saying goes, " Take the money." Went on dispatch delay at 0200. Sucked up 5 hours before starting my day. Ran 27 miles getting the tank and to the customer. Sitting at customer for 4 hours leaves me at 172 for the day and counting. Yeah, it's going to be an easy 300 dollar day.

Ran down Cincinnati way with a load of dispatch brains. Squatting at the LaQuinta until I load out for Raeford on Monday.

LaRoassa"s double pepperoni and a Coke is in order before I settle in for the night. Tommorow, it will be wings from Roosters.

Been a while since I've posted. Had a nice vacation in a mountain cabin with the family. My son heads to Greer SC for the one week training.

I'm out running the system until the 24th. Took a different load out to see a new place in Florida. Ended up in our Savannah and Baltimore terminals, both were firsts. Baltimore has dispatched me a few times though.

I covered a load that another driver couldn't finish out of Baltimore. Dispatch thought I was wanting to go home. Once she realized my go home date, she gave me the Iowa City run after the short run I covered.

Dropped the tank in Richmond and ran down to the 58 to sit 24 or so hours. Nice dispatch delay and miles to run over the weekend. Take the money and run.

I am believing it is time to put this thread to bed. Haven't been a rookie in a while, but I am still learning. Maybe I can get my son to do a thread with me once he gets to be a full hire???

Mort how often do you run down to Florida~heading that way Saturday for a little relaxing and exploratory work will definitely be stopping in to talk to the terminal manager in Jacksonville I also know you guys have a terminal in Lakeland as well.

I've only been down that way twice hauling. Once to Miami and then Gainesville this last Tuesday. Are those Superior terminals or Carry? Sometimes we dispatch out of Carry terminals.

That terminal in Lakeland fl is a dedicated terminal, every now and then you can get a system load out of there, but for the most part those drivers are home every night

Thanks for updating this thread, it's been great reading and very informative. I'm going to CDL school in Houston in September and when I finish in December the Pasadena, TX Superior terminal is at the top of my list to apply.

One question I have, can you give some general idea to the difference in work / pay for people running regional out of Pasadena terminal vs system / otr?

Well the pay for regional and otr is the same out of Pasadena. .56 cent loaded, .45 cent empty, $10 per night to sleep in truck, $20 for first 2 hrs at customer, $20 per hour after 2 hrs, layover pay if waiting on a load, if getting a trlr steamed at a tankwash or terminal you are paid by the hour until trlr is finished. If you do local work out of Pasadena (150 miles or less) you are paid $20 per hour, my advice would be to apply for otr, regional is up and down because a lot of guys want to be home on a regular basis, so you will be competing for loads with guys who have seniority, but if you do otr out of Pasadena and do the minimum days out (usually 9-10 days) you will get loads going into system, and when you unload, whatever terminal dispatches you next will give u a load headed back towards Pasadena.
