Snackbar rule #1, never go back. If a company is so incompatible and disagreeable that I leave, then going back won't make things better. Besides, they don't have open deck, and I won't go back to a box unless I have to.

Understood. I feel the same way, but when the family needs to be fed, I'll do what I gotta do. Ten more years and I'm outta here.

My experience with Magnum, it wasn't $100's anyway, it was $1's and the occasional $10.

Sorry for what you are going through but it's predictable. Look back at your employment history. Look back as to when you finally revealed the company you went with. The common denominator is that they are all OTR companies. OTR companies are just junk! I will ask on this thread if anyone can give an example of a good OTR company?

I am an OTR driver, I would be twice as unhappy doing local or line haul (if there were such a thing in my area). And, any local/line haul jobs where I live wouldn't pay anywhere near what OTR does.

You didn't like the answers given on the other thread, so you are going to post the same thing on different threads until you find the answer that suits you? That won't happen.

Not to hijack this thread, but I will agree with you, with one difference, instead of just OTR companies, I would change OTR companies with trucking as a whole. I’ve been at it for 41 years, only had 6 jobs in those years, and to be quite honest, as much as this industry is junk, it’s been very good to me. I’ve learned a long time ago, it all depends on what you’re willing to accept. Me? I’m 2.5 years to retirement, I can retire today without an issue, never was associated with a union job, never got laid off, and never had a company close their doors while I was employed. This isn’t about anything except what one is willing to accept. I’m very fortunate, 2.5 years and I’m done, sooner if I decide to.

I’ve been following SB for years, I’ve gleaned quite a bit of useful knowledge and information from his postings. For those of us that’s been around for any stretch of time, people like him, and yourself, make it very helpful for all of us, whether we are looking for or needing new information.

Things are looking scary here. Did a Church Hill to Montreal and back to Church Hill(and that is it for this week). That's 3 weeks under 1500, 1 week under 2000 and 1 good week. I got back to CH yesterday and I honestly don't remember seeing so many empty trailers. As of last night, just before dark, there was only 1 loaded trailer going to San Antonio, and that was it. I went by the Church Hill shop's yard on my way out to do laundry this morning, there were only a couple trucks sitting there with drivers stuff in there, the rest were empty (guessing there were a dozen or so empty trucks). Wonder how long it's gonna be before either Daseke closes us down or puts someone in Mascot that can right the ship before it capsizes.
