I don't think drivers, as a whole, will ever unite and stand together. There's too much diversity now. You probably won't find the driver with the belt and tucked in shirt standing with the fella in sweat pants and flip flops.

Every idea ya'll have talked about has been around for the last 40 years I have been trucking, and things have not improved. I am sure the years before that the same problems were there, and in the future the same gripes will be heard from truckers.
Things have not changed for truckers, and I do not believe they ever will.

These guys have a good reputation. My cousin retired after 35 years on MMP contracts and he speaks very highly of them. Judging by the way he lives the pension ain't bad either.

    Exactly!
I've been at it for over three decades, and i've been hearing about the same issues for all this time. Just like I used to hear about how terrible some companies were to drive for, that I did drive for myself, and thought that they were great employers. Anyone looking for a problem will find one, even in a perfect world.

Would this by chance be in reference to the Merchant Marines?

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

Why don't you show us an example of a good honest trucking company first?

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

You hate this industry so much, why are you involved in it? Or this site?
    Just curious.....

Mostly, yes. When he got out of the MM academy he shipped out of New Orleans, mostly for Lykes Lines and Keystone Tankers.
He finished up working for Chevron on their west coast tankers running from Alaska to California.

Not so bad - if your not afraid to push some freight around , I'm a combo driver , i work the the dock and run city freight for Holland , never did care for highway frt - just can't sit on my butt too long or be away from my wife & kids that much.

And this is not to mention all the hunting & fishing or having a normal life with normal work hrs , sure my hands gets dirty but my shower and the young soft blonde belong to me.

I wouldn't trade any of it ; for a brand new highway unit with fancy chrome rims

What do you consider honest? A company that won't lie to you? A company that won't cheat you? A company that keeps it's word?
Man, there are a half dozen outfits like that within a fifty mile radius of where I work. They're not big and they're not fancy but their drivers stay with them and they've been in business for many years.
The only problem is, they seldom hire because people don't leave.
Also, they never hire somebody who looks and sounds like a malcontent.
