I stumbled into the nomad subculture on YouTube. Some of it happens because people lose jobs. Some happens because of rising rents in very expensive cities, cities that still need waiters/waitresses, cashiers, city workers, etc. Then there are the people that decide they don't need a place to live, they just need the latest iphone and want to avoid growing up. There is a "guru" of theirs called Bob Wells. I think he was a former union organizer from Alaska who is advocating people give up their homes and live now rather than work and then retire. He's got some good technical tips on how to live that way, but if you know what to look for you can pick up on his Marxism and their main idea that all unfairness is due to society MAKING you want to live indoors and have a permanent community.
There is also a nomad community of "work campers" that travel the country working at various seasonal jobs for low pay. Amazon is the biggest company I've heard mentioned. Instead of paying a higher wage, Amazon has certain facilities where they pay a low wage but provide a free camp site. Amazon at these places pays bonuses, etc at the end of the contract period IF YOU STAY THE FULL CONTRACT PERIOD. In many ways it does like the continuing decline of the society.

My guess is those signs are for campers, to prevent someone from permanently setting up shop in the rest area

I don't know if it's the decline of society, the advancement of technology to replace the worker, a desire to live debt free, or just the next chapter in the story of a nation that has had its wealth stolen by the rich and powerful.
It is the future though.tscottme Thanks this. -

Then picked up again in 2011 as oilfield gate guards. Very few made much. RVs deteriorated at a drastic rate. (Oilfield is now officially Third World. Spent the night at Odessa a few days ago. Saw ONE American driver out of three dozen).
Workcamping is really for crafts. Major capital projects like gas compression plants or electrical stations. All certified.
For the rest, failure to marry is at the root. And courts that favor the selfishness of women. Lots of debt already and who wants to lose it all to some tattooed she-bear (Tattoos: moving the ugliness from inside to outside).
The only reason anyone “needs” a degree is Griggs vs Duke Power when IQ tests were outlawed as unfair in 1971. Four years of delayed gratification was seen as substitute. (Enemy action).
But it’s “better” to live (where the action is, where my family used to do well, etc) in a place I can’t make a family wage and am openly legally discriminated against due to race.
Well, someone has to hustle to pay for their replacement by parasites incapable of supporting themselves. (Only ONE demographic pays their own way. Actually leaves a tax surplus at end. Still has to support their women nonetheless, career or not ).

Rents doubling or tripling inside of 10 years while wages remain stagnant is a reason.
Communities vetoing the building of apartment buildings is a reason.
It takes 10 years for buying a home to make financial sense. How secure is your job? My brother in law bought a house close to work in 2015. In 2016 "corporate restructuring " moved him from the Chicago suburbs to downtown. In 2018 his company was sold and he was out of a job. He now is working in southern Illinois - he and my sister won't come close to breaking even as all the improvements they made were not "high return" from a selling perspective, like insulation, wiring, landscaping/drainage. Paradigms are shifting.
Bloomberg - Are you a robot?
Several Google employees say they've lived in the company parking lot — here's why they did it
Discriminatory preference for any group, minority or majority, is precisely and only what Congress has proscribed. What is required by Congress is the removal of artificial, arbitrary, and unnecessary barriers to employment when the barriers operate invidiously to discriminate on the basis of racial or other impermissible classification.
It does not say IQ tests, diplomas, or other aptitude tests may NOT be used, rather there must be a correlation between the test/criteria and the job. Further
History is filled with examples of men and women who rendered highly effective performance without the conventional badges of accomplishment in terms of certificates, diplomas, or degrees. Diplomas and tests are useful servants, but Congress has mandated the common sense proposition that they are not to become masters of reality. So your beef is really with the 1964 Civil Rights Act and Title VII, not the court case and the case makes clear that applicants should be judged on overall merit, not arbitrary and capricious standards.
For the rest of your statement - please take the thinly veiled racsim to the politics section. Tag me there and I will respond, but the mods have made it very clear they don't want that type of conversation on the open forum.ncmickey, PE_T, tarmadilo and 1 other person Thank this. -

Marriage is society’s foundation. Alternatives don’t exist (such as divorce)
Your tendentious reading of law that isn’t law only underscores what is a solid proven predictor: IQ. Nothing else comes close. I don’t imagine you remember 1963/4. I do. And the subsequent acts.
Artificial inflation of education, housing, etc is at war with societal basics. Stability. It’s not value, it’s a bubble in each.
Being ethnically cleansed from our cities in the late 1960s was bad enough. But the GREATLY increased costs as a result — without corresponding pay increases — is central.
If you don’t recognize what is war, I’m sorry for you. There’s not a single institution in this country that isn’t ruined.
“Camping” in a car in order to work? Ha!
Do some research. Have a worthy RV before everything falls apart.
A trucker can work anywhere. Make that a reality.
