I have come across truck drivers that have worked for large outfits with terminals in various locations.

These same drivers have mentioned that some terminals are some of the best places to work for, while other terminals, within the same company, will cut an employees throat, (figuratively speaking), in a heartbeat, both drivers and non-drivers alike.

What it really comes down to are the people both in charge and the people under them.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

Hindsight’s 20/20. I should have went to work at ABF. 25 yrs ago, I’d be retiring in 2 yrs. @57. Only one I really care for among the few left.I’m a Teamster, got the withdrawal card to proof it. That’s about all I got from them, and it cost Me 50 cents. Bad timing, all those jobs are history, Hard to get back then, as seniority guys had first dibs. And there were always a bunch of them from defunct Companies waiting for an opening. Who knew? ABF, still around, goes to show it’s possible to compete and pay well.

Make no mistake, I love being a company truck driver. I was simply replying to the OP's comment.

Having said that, it's my opinion that this industry stinks when it comes to how they treat their at will employees. Some people are fundamentally opposed to unions. I happen to be fundamentally opposed to corporate greed. Especially when it's done of the backs of hard working drivers.

If the industry could have been organized it would have been by now. Simply impossible.

It’s to easy to become an O/O unlike airlines where you have to jump through major hoops to start moving things or people around.

Still waiting for you and only you, to give me 1 example of a trucking company that doesn't lie to their drivers?

That is sad. It truly shows they really don't or didn't value your contribution.

When I worked for Bob Borchardt years ago, he never lied to me. Told me what the job was, what the pay was, what equipment he had, and answered any questions I had. Got along great with him, and the dispatcher, Neal.

    How's that?

So am I to deduce from your statement that you retired from there? Is Bob Borchardt the name of the trucking company? If so, congratulations. If not, why did you leave and where did you go? We have a few drivers as well as warehouse and tank farm employees that are drawing from their Teamster Pension and still working. I don't get that but whatever?
