I recently purchased my first Western Star, has the DD15, Since Ive bought it, It has ran great no issues other than the batteries going bad, but easy fix, so I Changed the batteries and now I have starting issues that I thought were due to the weak batteries,

When you turn the key and wait a few seconds before starting one of three things will happen

    1. When you turn the key to the run position-NOTHING happens, no lights, no gauge twitch, nothing
2.Turn to the run position, gauges light up, and twitch into place-wait to start pops up, turn the key to the start position (this truck requires you to hold in the start position for about 3 seconds, the solenoids will click and boom it will fire right off)
and now the latest it is doing
    3. repeat steps 2, but when you hold the key to crank, no solenoids clicking and will not turnover, then the wait to start light pops back up so I need to recycle key and do it all over -Nothing-

I checked every fuse every solenoid pertaining to starting, check all the battery cables (loosened them all and re tightened) boom fired right up like never had issues

Today, go to crank nothing! Any advice would be grateful, Ill be spending my
Sunday troubleshooting so I can work Monday

On Detroit forums they have had a few Stars that just had a faulty ignition (key) switch.
The delay is also caused by a faulty solenoid on the starter. Or more accurately the thermo protection relay mounted of the starter.

    Humblepie and codyb86 Thank this.

So Ive disconnected every cable from the batteries to the frame, used wire brush, cleaned, sprayed batter cleaner on them and reconnected, ACC comes on with key, I can hear solenoids clicking in the start position but will not turn over

Clutch switch, you can either get a new clutch switch or jump the connector with a paper clip.

after a lot of searching and process of elimination I discovered the starter solenoid is receiving power but not engaging, So I pulled the starter, will get a new one tomorrow, and hope all my problems with cranking is solved.

I had a 2013 Star that had water in the ECM connector. The dash gave me a code for the starter circuit.
Seeing as your first problem listed above said the ignition switch wasn’t responding, then starter troubles. I wonder if you have corroded pins on the ECM. Most modern trucks when you turn the key to start, it just signals the ECM to start the engine. Then the ECM sends power to the starter relays.
See this post I did a few years ago.
DD15 Motor Control Module (ECM) don't pressure wash
