Mine was easy to get used to. Slow trucks, and a laid back company.

We got there, when we got there. No stress involved, unless you where the stressful type.

And of course, it paid good to begin with :D

I preferred to drive at night when possible as well, for those two reasons. They only thing I did not like, was trying to find street signs in areas that you have never been done before..

    You is lucky. Luuckyluuckyluucky! :biggrin_25525:

DoubleD: I have a 15,000,000 candlepower handheld that says signs are no problem! I have, on the other hand, seen people come out of their front doors after I swiped it across their windows!

I can`t stay awake at 65 mph.Makes me very nervous to run in a pack of governed trucks. Most of my companies trucks are set at 78mph but a couple are triple digit.According to the shop mine is set at 107.I`ll never know unless we start running west.
all nite, there are more drivers like us.I`m still miserable driving a company truck. But being able to pass what I want helps. Not being routed helps, too, as I prefer something other than interstate.Mostly get left alone to do my job without all the mega company B.S.
I could have made more money over the years, but at what cost? Thanks for letting me know I`m not alone.

There are several ways to deal with all that. Night time PMs can help you sleep. If I can't sleep I take 1/2 of one or one. Or a good book to read may help. Start looking into audio books. If you listen to XM all day, especially the talk radio you will want to drive off a #### bridge! They keep your mind busy if driving isn't enough. Set you cruise at just under the flow of traffic and the cars will just pass you and enjoy the ride. You are not in a race! So why stress out?? good luck

I think getting paid by the hour and by the mile has alot do with it. Plus what you're hauling. I'm hauling gasoline and I'm lucky to be driving around the wide open desert except for the one thing that does really bother men. That's when you run into a R/V that's going about 45mph on the single lane and when the guy gets to two lanes he'll speed up to 55mph. That's when I stop for coffee.

I'd have to be an O/O to drive 100mph. I think it's crazy but even more if you don't know the truck and who's been driving it. I told the boss I don't mind driving 65mph but I'd like to drive that up the grades and then it would be perfect for me. Years ago we had a KW COE truck and trailer with a 444 cummins. Our mech found out you could bump it up to 450hp and still be under warranty. You'd think that 6hp wouldn't do much but the turbo was bigger and that truck was fast up the hills. Just my 2¢.
