If you want to start from the bottom/inside yes. You can also get a seasonal driving position. If you do a good job and have a great attendance record, they can/will ask you if you want a permanent position if one is available.
This is how a lot of Feeder drivers from off the street get hired. It's not unheard of someone getting offered a package car position from from doing seasonal Feeder.

I was wondering the same thing. That package handler job is no joke. Even for fit, motivated 20 year olds. It's a whole different ballgame than LTL dock work on a forklift.

I was a package handler and sorter and a package car driver. That was my first driving job. It is hard work. During the twilight sort I’d load two trailers being fed by a belt. I’d build walls so it could all fit in a 28’. It all had to fit- you couldn’t just throw it in there. I’d run to the other trailer when the belt backed up.

Other roles were unloading inbound trailers by hand. All small package put on old school roller belts. On occasion, I’d load the package cars. That’s a lot of mental work because you had to load based on location so the driver could do his 200 stops a day as fast as possible.

They put me on a route after their military driving school in October. Laid off in January. Back to the warehouse. Drive on Saturdays sometimes for next day air deliveries. Cover routes in the summer for vacations... laid off again. I got sick of it. I was really young and eager but didn’t stick it out. They put me to work in three different buildings from DC to Baltimore. I was living at home st the time and wish I would’ve stuck it out but I didn’t. It is not an easy job though. That physical work with a bunch of supervisors yelling at you and the micromanagement... yikes.

Thanks you. That's what I have been trying to tell people on this site but no one seems to get it so I just gave up. It was different 17 years ago when I started driving, ice you got seniority you were in and that only took 30 days. Now they string dudes along forever, it's a great job but I couldn't recommend starting it to anyone over like 23 years old with no responsibilities.

There are probably NOT a whole lot of people in the workforce taking home $2,000 a week.

Come to think of it, there are a whole lot of people NOT taking home $2,000 a month, ($24,000 a year), let alone $2,000 a week, ($104,000 a year).

    HOLY MOSES!!

This is TRULY & GENUINELY quite an accomplishment. Many people do NOT earn $37,000 a year on base pay or base pay and overtime combined.
More power to you for being able to accomplish this.

God bless you and your entire family!
