big windows. Zoom in, look closely, the carts are on wheels!!!!!!!!! on a flatbed. Yeah, it was a little freaky.

They actually broke one in the back group when lifting it with the crane. Someone didn't set the pieces in between right and when the crane lifted (and squeezed), POP, the glass shattered. NMP

then off to pick up some trench safety boxes. Now you might say "LC, this looks just like that photo last friday" and it's close. But the exact same place, the exact parts I brought them and.............they didn't even use these. so back they go. 10' wide. we all getting paid, only their budget is being blown. odd though

then deliver some road plates. too boring for pics.

a 25,000hp electrical motor. There's really no place to tie it down. I used the crane lifting points (which the shipping guy suggested). but cuz the chains are now direct (to the same side of the trailer), it's only half WLL. I'm a few thousand lbs short. But I didn't know what else to do, willing to hear ideas. the thing didn't move at all. I put every ounce of my "bulk" into getting that binder down. I asked the guy if it was bolted to the pallet and he said no, but when they took it off with the crane the pallet went with it, so clearly it was bolted to it.

I asked the guy what one runs and he said "oh, a couple hundred thousand dollars" eeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkk

Then i went to pick up some fabricated steel and delivered that.

What's with this halfed business? They're counted for their ACTUAL WLL with direct securement, not half. Where as indirect doubles it. Also, a few hundred k? Pshhhh. Try $1.5 million dollar parts. :|

Looking closer, why did you do that with the chains? I'd tear drop both ends so there's nowhere for it to go.

you can kinda see that I didn't want the chains hitting the box and other stuff too. Figured it worked just as well to keep it away from the box. but honestly 6 of one, half dozen of the other.

well to be brutally honest until you said something I didn't really think of it that way. Ummmmmmm, can I blame the heat? old age?

Besides it's not on wheels, it's pushing down.

You could have taken a third chain and ran it over both lifting lugs and attached that to the trailer. A strap over the pallet would have worked. I also would have taken the Chains and hooked one end tight around the lifting lug and the other end to the trailer. The way you did it the load can still shift around, though not likely.

It’s 6 of one half dozen of the other but He’s correct.

With Direct securement the WLL is counted at 50% and indirect is counted at 100%. You are required to secure for half the the weight of the cargo, minimum.

A few weeks ago, I got into a "debate" with a local DOT guy over in Massachusetts. I was trying to use Tb0n3's argument, and the cop wasn't even sure himself, he had to call and ask his sarge...he keeps asking me why I think I can double WLL with indirect...I always thought with indirect, you have WLL up one side plus WLL down the other...The cop doesn't see it that way, so he gives me a printout stating kylefitzy's argument...what's the difference?!? That argument is based on half the weight of the cargo while I was figuring all the weight and doubling...

The guy had me on the 10 ft rule and didn't even know it...I had enough tiedowns for the weight, but should've added 1 for length. I'm gonna use @LoneCowboy 's excuse of old age...when I hauled steel, I always tried to cover myself with the 10 ft rule, to the point of oversecuring...but this precast stuff and only securing the ends...

When it was all said and done, the guy made me add 2 tiedowns although 1 would've been plenty. He didn't write me for anything, I was tired of arguing and wanted to leave before he got his pen out...

manholes. Which like donut holes turn out not to be holes but actual things with weight. :)

3 loads of these today. I could say I didn't take pictures cuz you know, same basic thing, but really it was so hot I forgot. :)

Those front two bases weigh almost 14,000lbs each.
