Most people can’t see past the end of their hood.

Breathing isn’t a good choice for 80% of people today.

    LOL
A real good set of low beam headlights will illuminate 250 feet, so in order for a professional driver not to overdrive his stopping distance at night we have to add perception and reaction and the braking distance so the good professional drivers are the ones driving about 36mph down the interstate at night.

The system does self check itself and tells you if it is not working 100%.
So your above arguments are incorrect.

Avoid or lessen the impact as much as possible.

Unless the self-check system has a malfunction and self-reports everything to be in perfect working order, or the malfunction causes the self-check to not run, and it doesn't alert you to the failure...

If all of these electronic systems were fool-proof, why are we required to carry paper logs with our ELD? Why is a "driver" still required to sit behind the wheel of allegedly autonomous vehicles? Even planes require a pilot to be at the controls just in case the electronics flying the plane decide to crash it.

Perhaps. Moose can be hard to see though if they aren't moving. Just a black hole. It's easier to spot a mouse running than a moose standing still.
