    You and me both brother.

I got a great paying job with a dry bulk company but the schedule is killing me. Working your ### off all week and getting home Friday afternoon just to have to leave out Sunday is for the birds.

It's pretty laid back here at Highway Transport. They want their system drivers to stay out 11-12 days. But hometime is good. I typically get in on Thursday and take Fri-Sun off. Go back out on Monday. Basically home every other weekend.

Would I like to be home every weekend? Absolutely. But I have not found a driving job in my area that makes that possible and pays wages I can live off of.

Highway offers regional where I could be home every weekend. But it's running loads for Ecolab which I heard is a total nightmare. I like what I'm doing because the majority of my loads are pre-loaded and most consignees offload them. I think I have unloaded maybe 3 loads in two months.

I forgot to mention, system drivers get $22 an hour as soon as they hit the shipper or receiver gate until we leave. No giving up time or a set amount for the first 2 hours. That adds up quick.

Yeah I can second what RD68 is saying about HYTT being laid back all they expect from you is to be on time with pu/delivery occasionally I’ll get a call asking if the shipper or traffic put me behind so they can let the customer know

This may sound like a weird question but I honestly want to know the following:
Based on what you said about how the regional drivers work, would it be possible to work part-time Thursday evening through Sunday night? I'm asking b/c I'm looking at going back to school and classes are Monday morning - Thursday afternoon. I'd be willing to be on the road from Thursday evening through Sunday night every week. Just curious if any companies have freight that moves this way and if a driver could still make around $40k/yr working that type of pt schedule?

Call them and ask them. They are short on drivers so I'm sure they might be willing to work something out with you.

I know highway has a terminal outside of Philadelphia pa, so I’m sure they do a fair share of northeast. Anytime I deliver to behr process in Allentown pa I always see their trucks in there
