LoL.. I sure AM old... gonna turn 5 ot AGAIN (??) in August. I really love the new gig, tbh. It's cake..almost makes me feel lazy. Yeah, I've been 'hinting' to what I want for my B'day.....(she controls the finances, rather well...tbh!)

I'm the worst with managing coin. Went to meat market to pick up our steaks for the holiday, and was gone THREE HOURS. Son got some awesome bluetooth headset that makes MY ears hurt; he needed a new wallet, and I needed tools.

I think I'll stay home the rest of the weekend, haha!

PLEASE keep me posted on your endeavors. My company doesn't hire out by you or I'd fwd the info.

If you ever go to the 'other' website, look up Don H. ..... I got him that job. He's on here, too... as DonFromWooster or something of that nature.

I got lucky. For my senior years, very. Bring the truck home any day I wish, esp when heading South from the North...saves wear and tear on the car or Jeep.... and about 1.5 hours of sleep. Can't beat it. PS: i pick my loads OFF A BOARD at my yard. Literally. Can't beat that.

    Ttys,
    Tom

Yessir. North / South, East / West, depending on the weather. I'm here for Good. Don loves it as well, it seems~! He runs days, I run nights (by choice and shift differential, haha~!) so we never really cross paths... but I DO go to his yard often, and MAN he post trips the trailers when he drops an empty. I'll take his 'done one' anyday~!!

Research and stay with one for a long period if possible .. Here are 2 good reasons why.. 1 The money you lose switching jobs by not working for up to a few weeks sometimes will take you a year or more to recoup... 2 You will always be at the bottom of the totem pole until you get some time in with a company

If it does affect your getting hired, you probably would not enjoy working there. Balkan Express hired me and I have walked out of many orientations and quit bad jobs in as little as 1 week. I love working here at Balkan Express in Ft Worth. First trucking job that is perfect!

It can and in fact it has happened to me once. It looks a little bad and makes filling out an application a nightmare. I went through a period of job hopping and I like to think I know a little a better now. Somebody will always hire though if you otherwise look okay on paper.

Being a job hopper myself, I would say...

Yes, but not really damning to the point of hating your life.

Sure, you'll lose that one super tits gig, that hired someone that stays at jobs for more than 15 years at a time instead, but you can still find a good company because the fact is there are more ####ty drivers (not just bad at driving) at almost every company.

My unsolicited advice related to this question would be find out why you leave companies so often, then correct or proceed to a position in which that doesn't happen to the extent it has I the past.

The answer to this question could be either yes or no actually I've read quite a few of the forums responses on this topic so it looks like its 50/50, think about it from the other side in other words the employers point of view image he / she is sitting at their desk deciding who to call about coming in to start a driving career with their company they have a folder on the desk with about 30 prospective applicants so they start viewing each application which ones do you think are going to stand out? That's right the ones with the most stable history now if all the applications have some what of an unstable history well then you'll be on a more even playing field however with say 50 % of the applications having stable driving history there's a 99 % chance their going to call that group first. Its no fault of yours its just how it is with most job applications and hopefully you'll find a company that will have an employer that is not so concerned about stable job history in other words their just desperate for drivers.

Coming from a guy that has had 7 jobs in the last 2 and half years I’ve been trucking, I’ve never had a problem. I have a clean record and I have driven fuel tankers, end dumps, transfer driving for 2 trash companies, worked front load trash, worked at Waste Management driving class b tanker when I first got out of school, and have worked for 2 Ltl companies. I am doing linehaul for FedEx Freight right now and have worked about 3 days in the last 3 weeks, it’s been really slow and I’m thinkin about making it an 8th lol. I’ve given 2 week notices at all my jobs and have been asked to come back to work for 4 of those past jobs. I think it can and can’t hurt you just depends. I think you should have a good cover letter maybe explaining why you have had so many jobs as usually when I interview I explain to them what’s happened with each company and most of them have just slowed down to much and I can only go so long not getting enough hours or not working at all like I am with FedEx. So yeah I think your chances can hurt you and it might not just depends I think how desperate the company is at that time. For example I applied at FedEx Freight a little over a year ago and didn’t get the job but they were only hiring 2 people so things get a little tougher. Interviewed a year later and I got the job the next time but they were hiring 8 people so that defiantly helped my chances of getting in that time so anyway yeah i think it’s a hit or miss just depending on the circumstances with the company. Good luck there.
