I’m a real live person and run multiple businesses and because I absolutely hate the government taking my money, at the top of my list for all my businesses is to find legal ways to minimize the tax responsibility to the government.
In my repair shop ( because it’s a business) I receive multiple 1099s from entities I do business with including many different institutions and municipalities.
Because I am educated and understand how 1099s work I never have had issues.
The key is having the education and understanding of how an actual 1099 works.
One could probably safely say that the op now has a basic understanding of how 1099s work.
He now has so education and will not make the same mistakes again.
This is why education is needed before individuals fall in to the trap.
And for the record I have never in my life received a days unemployment or any other government hand outs.
Am I liable for costs as a 1099 employee

It is still technically a hand out that people abuse.
I get people coming to me often asking me to sign papers saying I don’t have work to hire them so they can continue to not work and get a check. -
