How is 412 between I80 and its northern terminus with Route 189? I'll be coming out on I80 WB and 412 looks like a nice little short cut to get me up to Kemmerer, WY.

Why not just take 30 from Granger?
spindrift Thanks this. -
Don't have my atlas in front of me, but I've 2 lane it quite a bit through Why-Oh-Ming, even in the winter, with no problems.

I have found most roads in Wyoming ok for a big truck.
If you take those highways south of I-80 to Utah they get challenging.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
If you are headed west to Idaho via Kemmerer just take US30... It is exit 66 on I-80... Will be shorter than 412.

I'm going west on I80. I can get off at exit 39 and head north on 412 to pick up 189 north into Kemmerer. That route looks a lot shorter than heading further west on I80 to exit 18 where I'd shoot north on 189 straight into Kemmerer. Just wondering if that 412 is good road.
Didn't even see 30 for some reason. Gotta start wearing my glasses more often. -
If you take 412 versus going west to 189 you will save 24 miles (approximately)
Not sure what route 412 is like you might save miles but not any time.
30 is east of 412.
30 and 189 are good roads.
If I've been on 412 I don't remember. That's good because road was ok.
Good luckspindrift Thanks this. -
If you are headed west toward Logan, I recommend avoiding 89 west of Bear Lake.spindrift Thanks this. -
According to Google Maps taking 412 off of I 80 to 189 is around 27 miles farther than taking 30 off of I 80.

Both will have a high propensity for deer strikes
